Meet Our Camp Director
Hi! I'm Stacie, the Camp Director at Amazing Downtown Summer Camp. My camp career started at Oasis Day Camp in 2008 and have gone through the roles of camp counselor, division leader, and camp director. Summer camp has been a huge part of my life, and I am excited to carry on the Downtown tradition with the Amazing Athletes family.
I have a deep passion for youth development. I’m a licensed social worker and a mom to a toddler. I believe in creating safe and joyful spaces where kids can grow, explore, and have the kind of summers they’ll always remember.
FUN FACT
I’m a true neighborhood kid from the Lower East Side. I went to P.S. 110 for elementary school and spent my summers at a few neighborhood day camps. My favorite place as a kid? Without question, Economy Candy!
We can’t wait to welcome your child to a summer of fun, friendship, and play here at Downtown!

Amazing Downtown Summer Camp is only offered as a weekly option.
Each group’s schedule is a combination of team sports, teambuilding games, arts and crafts, music, theater or dance, and science activities. Activities will vary from day to day. Swimming and lunch remain at the same time each day. We have weekly dress up days, choice-based activity periods, and camp-wide special events. Dates of on-site visitors, off-site trips, theme and dress up days, and special events are all listed on our summer calendar.
Camp shirt (you will receive 5), shorts, sneakers, and a water bottle each day. Please no sport sandals or Crocs as they don’t provide ankle support. We will provide sunscreen, but campers are encouraged to bring their own. For swimming daily, a bathing suit, towel, flip flops, goggles, and a swimming cap.
We have daily swimming lessons. Campers are given a swim assessment on their first day to determine their swim level. They are then placed in a swim level group with an instructor. The Aquatics Director oversees swimming lessons and our swim instructors. We follow the American Red Cross learn to swim program. Our swim instructors are certified in lifeguarding and CPR for the professional rescuer. Our counselors, the Division Leader, and counselors-in-training are in the water assisting during swimming lessons and monitoring the campers during free swim.
We have a Health Director on site. The Health Director will notify you immediately if your child becomes injured or ill and what treatment was administered. You may be informed of minor incidents (i.e. small cuts, scrapes, etc.) when your child is picked up at the end of the day. Please notify us of any food and/or medication allergies your child may have in your child’s health history and physical examination form.
Please note that children must administer any medications themselves in the presence of the Health Director; we cannot administer any medications. Only in emergency situations where the camper is physically unable to self-administer medication, such as instances of severe allergic reactions or anaphylactic shock, a certified staff member will assist. Epi-Pens and asthma inhalers will travel with the group in their first-aid kit.
Yes! You can request for your child to be grouped with other campers by listing up to three friends, in order of preference on the enrollment form. Please note, it may not be possible to group friends who are 2 years or more apart in age.
While we don’t have specialized inclusion staff, we’re happy to discuss your child’s specific needs and how we can support them within our camp programming. We have had campers in our program with IEPs and 504 plans, and we strive to create an environment where all children can have a great experience. Please feel free to reach out to our Director to share more about what your child needs, and we can explore how to best support them at camp.
Lunch is served in our hour blocks between 11:30 AM and 1:30 PM. Unless enrolled in our optional hot lunch program ($50/week view our menu), campers should bring lunch in an insulated lunchbox that remains in their backpack until lunch time. Snacks will be provided twice per day, morning and afternoon, but families are welcome to send extra snacks. Each group is provided with a camp-wide allergy list and staff attend training regarding avoiding allergens and responding to allergy related emergencies. All camp provided snacks, and hot lunches are nut-free.
Bus service is $130 per week or $65 per week for AM or PM only. A staff member will check campers in and escort them onto the bus at the designated stop. For evening drop-off, campers must be signed out using an online link before they can leave. Anyone picking up a camper must show an ID that matches a name on the authorized pick-up list. We ask families to please allow a 15-minute grace period should the bus encounter any traffic. Bus routes, including times and bus stop locations, are provided to families before the start of camp.

During the school year, we don’t conduct camp tours since our facilities aren’t set up in their full camp configuration and schools are in session for classes and after school programming. Please watch our camp information video to get a sneak peak of camp in action. We do host a meet and greet for t-shirt pick-up the weekend before camp starts, which is a fantastic opportunity for families to meet our staff and get a feel for the environment. Additionally, if your child starts later in the summer, you’re welcome to visit camp with them beforehand.
