welcome to

Amazing Athletes North Austin Area, TX

Michelle Upshaw, Owner

My husband and I adore children and treasure spending time with our beautiful daughters. We have instilled a love of physical activity in our girls and stay busy with their sports and extracurricular activities. As a family we love swimming, riding bikes, and taking walks.

I am so grateful to be doing what I love…working with children! It is very fulfilling for me to be a positive influence and help children reach their fullest potential. Ever since I was a little girl I wanted to be a teacher and that is just what I did for over 19 years!

After graduating from Round Rock High School, I attended Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University). I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, with a specialization in Special Education. In addition, I went on to receive Talented & Gifted and English as a Second Language certifications. I have taught Pre-K, 1st, 2nd and 3rd grades and loved every minute of it! I am so glad to now be a part of Amazing Athletes, as it allows me to continue my passion of teaching and guiding children to be successful.

With the continuing increase of technology in and out of the classroom, it is very important to implement an active and healthy lifestyle in our children. If children are taught physical activity and nutrition when they are young, they are more likely to continue the same lifestyle in their adulthood. I feel privileged to be given the opportunity to help your child develop a love for sports and healthy habits.

I am married with 2 wonderful dogs. We love spending our free time hiking, traveling, hunting, working
out and trying new restaurants. I also love spending quality time with my nieces and nephews.

Growing up I was a multi-sport athlete. I went on to play soccer at Sam Houston State University. I also
just earned my first degree black belt in Taekwondo. When I am not training, I am an instructor and run the
after school program.

I love working for Amazing Athletes because teaching kids multiple sports, at such a young age, can help develop them to be stronger athletes.

My passion for working children began at a young age when my younger brother had a seizure while we
were away from my parents. After taking care of him during that stressful experience, I knew that I
wanted to continue to help others. I have had the pleasure of working as a nanny for 5 years, as a lead
teacher in a toddler classroom for 4 years, and as an assistant in a special needs class for 3 years. My
favorite of these is being mom to my two daughters.

My parents taught my siblings and me a love for being active and outside. As a family we regularly hiked,
fished and camped. My dad was an elementary coach and instilled in us a drive for a number of sports.
In college, I continued that enthusiasm by participating in weight training and swimming.

I am so excited to start this adventure with Amazing Athletes! I look forward to instilling in other children
an enthusiasm and love to be active and to enjoy learning about sports.

Be kind and be useful. These are the words my husband and I instill in our children each day. We have 3 beautiful kiddos, a girl and two boys. They love gymnastics, skateboarding, soccer, volleyball and basketball. We are a very active family. We love traveling, riding our bikes, swimming and all water activities, walking, Dart’em up, playing at the park, bowling and fishing (salt and freshwater) together. I even coach my daughter’s volleyball team.

I am so grateful for this opportunity to continue to work with and educate young people. I have worked with children all my life. This is my passion. I taught for 15 years and throughout those years I had an opportunity to teach across the grade levels in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th. I taught my majority of years in 2nd, but I am so lucky that I had the experience of teaching all ages in elementary.

After graduating from Rockwall High School, I attended University of North Texas. I earned a Bachelor of Science in Education, with a specialization in English and a minor in Technology (way different now). While teaching I went on to receive my ESL (English as a Second Language) and TAG (Talented and Gifted) certifications. I am also a Process Champion in Capturing Kid’s Hearts. Being apart of Amazing Athletes has given me the opportunity to continue to help children grow and learn. I love teaching/working with children and this is the best of both worlds.

Nutrition and physical activities are very important in the health of our children. In todays world it seems technology has taken over. To help balance this out, learning at young age that physical activity and nutrition are important is key. I am so honored to be apart of this program and to help your child develop a love of sports, movement and nutrition. I believe having fun while learning is the best way to learn!
